Black/Light Lavender Lacy Bowl

This bowl was created using almost 100 individual pieces of glass ... hand cut and fused together over multiple kiln firings.

The first step is to create the black lacy glass.  At this phase you get a sheet of glass that is full of holes. It was then capped with a lavender tinted glass that subtly changes color in the light. After a second firing the lacy glass is a solid glass sheet.

Lacy glass was then cut and combined with the same black glass to form a bowl.  Black glass is opalescent. All other glass is transparent.

The bottom of the bowl is completely round.  It does not have a flat bottom. (Without a stand the bowl wobbles on a flat surface.) To look its best I recommend using a bowl stand or plate stand like the ones you see in some of the gallery photos.

This purchase is for the glass bowl only, not the display stands.

This bowl weighs over 4 pounds.  It is 1/4" thick. Although it is 100% glass, it is not delicate. Treated with care it can last a lifetime.

Fused glass is never a perfect rectangle or perfect circle. By its very nature, measurements are approximate. This bowl is approximately 14-1/4" across.  It is approximately 2-3/4" deep.
