Fibonacci Purple Gems

Purples, pinks and blues are deep glass colors. Fusing them together with several layers of clear glass produces these bands of gems. This platter was created using almost 100 individual pieces of glass ... hand cut and fused together over multiple kiln firings.

Bubbles naturally form when you fuse two sheets of glass together. Gem layer is 1/4" thick.  Two 1/8" thick sheets of clear glass were fused together to produce the clear bands. The bubbles trapped between those layers are always unique ... adding depth and interest to the platter.

Fibonacci is a mathematical formula which forms the final design. The formula is the basis of many of the patterns that occur in nature.

This 1/4" thick platter weighs just under 2 pounds. Although it is 100% glass, it is not delicate. Treated with care it can last a lifetime.

Fused glass is never a perfect rectangle or perfect circle. By its very nature, measurements are approximate. This platter is approximately 11-1/2" x 6-1/4".  It is approximately 1-1/2" deep.
