Green Lacy Streaky Bowl

One of the things I love about living in Humboldt, California is all of the green open spaces. The spectacular trees are magical. The greens in this bowl echo Humboldt colors.

This piece began with the lacy glass. I used primarily transparent glass on this side so that the bowl would cast a wonderful reflection. The other side is a streaky glass ...reminding me of mountains and trees. Small pieces of glass are fused together to create a glass spider web. During the second firing a solid glass cap is added. The piece was fired a third time fusing the pieces together to create a circle. The final firing takes that solid glass disc and shapes it in the kiln into a bowl.

The bottom of the bowl is completely round.  It does not have a flat bottom. (Without a stand the bowl wobbles on a flat surface.) To look its best I recommend using a bowl stand or plate stand like the ones you see in some of the gallery photos.

This purchase is for the glass bowl only, not the display stands.

This bowl weighs over 4 pounds.  It is 1/4" thick. Although it is 100% glass, it is not delicate. Treated with care it can last a lifetime.

Fused glass is never a perfect rectangle or perfect circle. By its very nature, measurements are approximate. This bowl is approximately 14-1/4" across.  It is approximately 2-3/4" deep.
